Description:

Abstract: This is an area geometry depicting the outlines of buildings in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Purpose:
The building footprints primarily are used to track the various existing structures in the Parish. The building footprints will also be a major portion of the GIS maintenance activity for the Department of Public Works Inspections Division. It will also contain information about building type to improve search functionality to DPW staff and online. The building data would also assist DPW to address complaints and problem areas.

The current Building layer is based on existing ground conditions of the 1996 Aerial Photography and no additional buildings have been digitized. The building footprints will be updated and maintained by the Department of Public Works in the future.

The building footprints were last updated using the Aerial photography of 1996. And no further maintenance has been completed. New Aerial Photographs were flown in 2004, therefore this information is scheduled for update.
